Former radio presenter and ABC executive Tim Ritchie found a new career as a photographer almost by accident. Seeking to improve his health and manage his diabetes, Ritchie learned how to ride a bike with his daughter's help. Cycling up Sydney's hills proved more beneficial than his previous exercise routine, and he began capturing the beauty he encountered around Sydney in the early hours, with a camera.
Leaving his executive position, Ritchie rediscovered his creative side through photography and started cycling specifically for capturing photos. Sharing his work on social media gained positive attention, and he aspires to be recognized as Sydney's "photographer of emptiness." Ritchie's photography has become his primary vocation, exhibiting in shows such as the Venice Biennale, and he continues to explore Sydney's tranquil moments before the city awakens each morning, driven by a passion for both health and creativity.
We talk about his career in radio and as a club DJ, his passion for dew and raindrops, how photography has filled the creative void in his life along with much more!
I hope you enjoy the show!
