Andy Hutchinson, a Hertfordshire born landscape photographer based on the South Coast of New South Wales joins me this week. With over 30 years of experience, Andy’s passion for photography became serious in the last 15 years, as he combined his love of nature with a growing dedication to his craft. His photographic passion began with an Instamatic camera, processing film in his family’s bathroom, which eventually led to formal training in film development and a career in journalism.
Since moving to Australia in 2006, Andy has been captivated by the diverse beauty of South Coast NSW, an area where beaches, rainforests, cliffs, and pastures converge. His work often reflects the spontaneity of his shoots, as he embraces unplanned moments to capture the region’s unique landscapes.
We discuss the influence of landscapes on his creativity, the role of photography in mental health, and the evolving challenges of professional photography in the era of AI. Known for his dedication to documenting fleeting moments of natural beauty, Andy provides valuable advice for aspiring photographers and an inspiring perspective on pursuing one’s passion.
I hope you enjoy the show!
