Robin Dodd is an accomplished British landscape photographer whose work is deeply rooted in woodlands, rivers, and mountain landscapes. Based in the Chiltern Hills, just outside London, Robin is drawn to places of quiet complexity—believing the British countryside offers some of the most rewarding and expressive landscapes in the world. His photography balances structure and spontaneity, revealing calm and clarity within seemingly chaotic natural environments.
Entirely self-taught, Robin’s relationship with photography began at 14, developing film in his bedroom. A formative period living in Cold War Berlin shaped his visual philosophy, teaching him how creative freedom can exist even within physical and conceptual constraints. That mindset continues to inform his approach to composition and visual storytelling today.
Robin’s work has received significant national recognition, including winning UK Landscape Photographer of the Year 2021 (Your View) and British Wildlife Photography Awards 2024 (Black & White), alongside multiple shortlistings and touring exhibitions with Forestry England. His photographs are widely exhibited across the UK and featured in major publications.
In this conversation, Robin explores the emotional pull of the landscape, the role of weather, and the importance of slowing down to truly see composition. He also discusses printmaking, mentoring, woodland workshops, and his recently published eBook, Order in the Chaos. His insights reflect a thoughtful, grounded practice shaped by patience, curiosity, and deep connection to place.

Wednesday Jan 14, 2026
Wednesday Jan 14, 2026
Vivien Francis is a Bournemouth-based photographer and video producer whose work blends landscape photography, cinematography, and thoughtful visual storytelling. Originally from Holland, Vivian’s move to the UK reshaped her creative direction, inspiring a deep connection with England’s varied and often understated landscapes. For her, creativity is instinctive—something as essential as breathing—and this is reflected in her ability to find rhythm, emotion, and movement in both stills and motion work.
In this conversation, Vivien reflects on her journey from art school to developing a multidisciplinary practice rooted in observation and intention. She discusses how cinematography influences her photographic eye, helping her see landscapes not as static scenes but as living environments shaped by light, weather, and time. Her work balances delicacy with impact, guided by a strong sense of narrative and visual flow.
Vivien also shares thoughtful perspectives on creative integrity, collaboration, and the evolving role of AI within photography and video. She speaks candidly about problem-solving in the field, the emotional highs and lows of early starts and imperfect conditions, and the importance of community in sustaining a creative career. Tasmanian wilderness photographer Cam Blake reflects on a lifetime shaped by the landscapes of Australia, beginning with childhood explorations in Northeast Victoria. Now an accredited and commercially licensed photographer, Cam is known for his deep connection to remote places and for capturing the raw, rugged character of Tasmania’s wild environments. His imagery has appeared in major publications including Australian Geographic, Olympus UK/US, and WILD Outdoor Magazine, showcasing both his technical skill and his profound respect for nature.

Beyond creating images, he is dedicated to helping others grow as photographers. Through multi-day workshops across Tasmania and mainland Australia, he offers hands-on guidance, inspiring participants to develop their craft while immersing themselves in spectacular wilderness settings.

Ep 231 - Slowing down to connect with the landscape with Andy Gray
Wednesday Dec 31, 2025
Wednesday Dec 31, 2025
Peak District–based photographer Andy Gray shares how a lifelong artistic instinct, shaped by early landscape painting and a later career in manufacturing and engineering, ultimately led him back to creative expression through photography. Beginning his photographic path in 2004, Andy’s practice remained slow and reflective for many years, guided more by observation and study than by constant shooting. A formative trip to Lapland to witness the northern lights reignited his momentum, but it wasn’t until leaving manufacturing after 2018 that photography became a central focus of his life.
During the 2020–21 lockdown period, Andy turned his attention to the woodland surrounding his home, creating an evolving body of work built through repeated visits across changing seasons. This deep familiarity with place led to his breakthrough image Winter Pathway, which won a major prize at the 2021 Landscape Photographer of the Year competition and toured nationally throughout the UK.
Andy speaks about capturing atmosphere over spectacle, the importance of patience, and how working close to home reshaped his creative vision. For him, photography is about transporting viewers into the emotional presence of a place through light, weather, and quiet moments.

Ep 230 - Grant Bulloch: Discovering the Essence of Landscapes
Wednesday Dec 24, 2025
Wednesday Dec 24, 2025
Scottish photographer Grant Bulloch shares how his creative path developed from early artistic curiosity into a deep connection with the landscapes of the Highlands and Islands. While his work is rooted in Scotland’s natural environment, Grant also finds creative fulfilment photographing urban spaces, architectural details, and events. He reflects on the way shifting weather, fleeting light, and moody atmosphere influence both his shooting decisions and emotional response to place.
Grant speaks openly about the importance of storytelling, not just through dramatic scenes but also through quieter, more abstract subjects such as boats, waterlines, and weathered rock formations. These details, he explains, often reveal deeper narratives when approached with patience and intention. The conversation also explores the challenges of exhibiting work publicly, learning to trust your creative voice, and remaining authentic in a competitive field.
Recognition through multiple national competitions has helped validate his long-term dedication, yet Grant emphasises that awards are secondary to the personal connection he builds with each image. His work continues to evolve through repeated returns to the same locations, allowing familiarity to foster deeper creative insight.
Throughout the discussion, Grant highlights photography as both a reflective practice and a visual language — one that allows him to interpret landscape not just as scenery, but as an evolving emotional environment shaped by light, weather, memory, and time.

Ep 229 - Aerial Adventures and Landscape Tales with David Dahlenburg
Wednesday Dec 17, 2025
Wednesday Dec 17, 2025
South Australian landscape photographer David Dahlenburg explores a creative life shaped by curiosity, emotional connection, and a deep respect for the natural world. David reflects on how his passion for photography began during a three-month journey through the UK and Europe with a 35mm film camera — an experience that sparked a fascination with crafting images that feel both captivating and mysterious. His travels through Peru, the USA, New Zealand, and across Australia helped refine his eye and ultimately led to receiving the 2019 South Australian AIPP Emerging Photographer of the Year award.
David shares how creativity has always been central to who he is, from songwriting and performing in bands to now creating visual artworks that encourage personal interpretation. He speaks about his love for images that hold unanswered questions, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within the frame.
Spending long, quiet moments in remote environments has also reshaped the way he sees the world. For David, waiting for light in the wilderness is both grounding and reflective — a reminder of the fragility and value of the landscapes he photographs.
He also discusses the joy of knowing that his artwork hangs in homes across Australia and beyond, a meaningful affirmation of the emotional connection his images create. Through his thoughtful process and deep appreciation for the environment, David demonstrates how photography can open conversations and inspire a closer relationship with the natural world.

Ep 228 - Exploring Minimalism in Photography with Dallas Grenenger
Wednesday Dec 10, 2025
Wednesday Dec 10, 2025
Brisbane photographer Dallas Grenenger reveals a creative life shaped by stillness, simplicity, and a deep appreciation for quiet moments. Dallas reflects on how his earliest experiences — photographing flowers, family, and road trips with a small Kodak camera — planted a spark that resurfaced years later when he picked up a mirrorless camera and began teaching himself the craft.
Dallas describes himself as naturally introverted, and photography has become his way of expressing something personal without noise or pressure. He shares how he gravitates toward calm, contemplative scenes, favouring black and white images for their ability to strip away distraction and bring light, texture, and emotion to the forefront. Long-exposure work plays a key role in his style, allowing him to slow time, soften movement, and create images that feel reflective and slightly surreal.
Whether crafting fine art pieces, portraits, or commercial projects, Dallas approaches each frame with the same quiet intentionality — clean compositions, space to breathe, and mood shaped by natural light. Beyond photography, he talks about his love of cycling, exploring new places at a slower pace, and the way these experiences feed into his creative mindset.
Through his thoughtful process and grounded perspective, Dallas reminds us that photography is as much about paying attention as it is about making images — an invitation to pause and notice the quiet beauty in everyday scenes.

Ep 227 - Embracing Wild Weather and Emotional Depth in the Landscape with Simon Berry
Wednesday Dec 03, 2025
Wednesday Dec 03, 2025
Simon Berry is a UK-based professional landscape and seascape photographer known for capturing nature at its most dynamic. Drawn to dramatic weather and powerful coastal scenes, Simon thrives in challenging conditions, creating images filled with movement, atmosphere, and emotional force. His work reflects a deep connection to wild places, particularly the rugged coasts and dramatic landscapes of Scotland.
Photography has been part of Simon’s life from an early age, shaped by artistic influence from his father. Early frustrations in landscape photography evolved into a disciplined approach rooted in patience, pre-visualization, and an appreciation for waiting on nature’s terms. Over time, Simon found joy in embracing unpredictability — harnessing turbulence, tidal energy, and shifting light to express the raw beauty of the natural world.
In conversation, Simon reflects on the emotional value of authenticity in his work and the creative freedom photography offers. He speaks passionately about the importance of printing, preserving moments beyond screens, and building a tangible legacy of images that tell personal stories. Simon also shares his love for both film and digital mediums, appreciating the unique creative qualities each brings to the photographic experience.
Today, his work encourages viewers to slow down and feel the landscape — not just observe it — and to appreciate nature in all its wild, weather-shaped character.

Ep 225 - Finding Emotion in Abstract Landscapes with Wendy Bagnall
Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
Wendy Bagnall, a photographic artist based in Surrey, England, has long been inspired by the hours she spent in the darkroom with her father during her teenage years. Her work draws deeply from the natural landscape, interpreting light, texture, and form through an expressive, often abstract lens. Wendy’s artistic approach is fluid and intuitive, emphasizing emotional resonance over realism.
Immersed in the rhythms and energy of the natural world, Wendy works without boundaries, capturing moments that reflect her personal connection to the environment. Through in-camera techniques such as multiple exposures and intentional camera movement (ICM), she creates authentic, painterly compositions that invite viewers to pause and find calm in the abstraction of nature’s forms.
In conversation, Wendy shares the evolution of her craft—from traditional landscapes to her experimental methods—and the therapeutic connection she finds through photography. She discusses the importance of printing her work, mentoring others, and nurturing creative confidence through workshops. Wendy also reflects on her experiences exhibiting at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in London and the Toronto Photography Festival in Canada, milestones that highlight her unique artistic voice.
Her photography is a meditation on emotion and energy, where the boundaries between subject and feeling dissolve into visual poetry.
